IRON MAIDEN

When i first started listening to metal, my favourite band was Iron Maiden. And i still think they are one the best metal bands ever.
I guarantee you that when you listen to this band.. You'll definately turn up the volume.

Iron maiden is Bruce dickinson (vocals), Steve harris (bass), Dave murray(guitars), Adrian smith(guitars), Janick gers(Guitars) and Nicko mcbrain(drums).

I like maiden the most for its melodic intro's and riffs which pump you up. And how can i forget the one and only.. Bruce dickinson. His operadic style of singing can rarely be found in metal and thats what kept me into Iron maiden at start.. Before i obviously went to much more brutal and harder stuff.

Iron Maiden are an English heavy metal band from Leyton in east London, formed in 1975 by bassist Steve Harris. Since their inception, the group have released a collective total of thirty-one albums: fifteen studio albums; seven live albums; four EPs; and five compilations.
Pioneers of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Iron Maiden achieved success during the early 1980s and, after several lineup changes, the band went on to release a series of platinum and gold albums.

As one of the most successful heavy metal bands in history, Iron Maiden have sold over 80 million records under EMI[2] and a total of over 100 million records worldwide with almost no radio or television support.[3][4][5] The band won the Ivor Novello Award for international achievement in 2002,[6] and were also inducted into the Hollywood RockWalk in Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, California during their United States tour in 2005. As of October 2009, the band has played over 2000 live shows during their career. For the past 30 years, the band has been supported by their famous mascot, "Eddie the Head", who has appeared on almost all of their album and single covers, as well as their live shows.

My favourite songs are "Hallowed be thy name" ( the number of the beast) , "Dance of death" (dance of death), "Blood brothers" (Brave new world), "The trooper" (Piece of mind), "The number of the beast", "The clansman" (Virtual XI), "Wasted years" (Somewhere in time), "Fear of the dark".

CHILDREN OF BODOM

Children of Bodom is a Finnish heavy metal band from Espoo, formed in 1993. The band consists of guitarist and vocalist Alexi Laiho (vocals/lead guitar), Roope Latvala (rhythm guitar), Janne Wirman (keyboards), Henkka Seppälä (bass), and Jaska Raatikainen (drums).

And their lead guitarist alexi laiho.. is considered one of the best guitarists in the world today. Guitar World magazine has ranked him as one of the 50 fastest guitarists in the world.Even i think so.. his solo's are really really hard to replicate and he also has a great voice.
But since me being a drummer.. i have a lot of respect for their drummer Jaska.

Children of Bodom fall under the genre of " Melodic Death Metal " ( Yes.. Metal has elements of melody :| :| )
I still remember when i once told a frnd of mine that COB play melo-death and her reply was : "death metal can be melodious too ?? :o " *sigh*

Children of Bodom's genre classification is debated amongst fans and critics. The band could be part of several musical genres, among them power metal, neo-classical metal, speed metal, black metal, and melodic death metal.Laiho says that he prefers to just be called a metal group and nothing other. However, in a recent interview for the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat, Laiho states that the band's genre is extreme metal, since he feels that all other alternatives are too restrictive.

LAMB OF GOD

Lamb of god is one of my favourite bands. From the basements of Richmond, Virginia to now being one of the best heavy metal bands in the world.
Lamb of God consists of vocalist Randy Blythe, guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler, bassist John Campbell, and drummer Chris Adler *bows down* ( who is my one of my all-time idols for drumming ).

Lamb of god was earlier an instrumental band called "Burn the Priest" and included vocals after randy joined them.
Ever since they released their albums like 'ashes of the wake', they have been considered to be leaders of New Wave of american Heavy metal.

Randy's guttheral vocals combined with the god-like drumming of Chris and super tough riffs/leads from the guitarists... their songs have a very different sound and pumps you up to the max.
You can say their genre is Thrash metal or Death metal or hardcore punk or Grindcore. But in general they get the tag of Groove metal with influences from the band "Pantera".

Since its formation, Lamb of God has released six studio albums, one live album, and three DVDs. The band's cumulative sales equal almost two million in the United States. In 2007 the band received a Grammy nomination for their 2006 album Sacrament.
Lamb of God has toured with the Ozzfest twice and appeared on Slayer's The Unholy Alliance Tour in 2006. They have also played at many other major festivals around the world including Download Festival and Sonisphere Festival in the UK, Soundwave Festival and Gigantour. Recently, (as in 2008-2009) they have toured with Metallica (World Magnetic Tour).

PANTERA

Diamond Darrell Abbott, Rex Rocker Brown and Vinnie Paul started playing together in a jazz band, later adding distortion with Terry Glaze on vocals.The directions of the band's sound began to change with the departure of vocalist Terry Glaze and his replacement by David Peacock, and later by Phil Anselmo, putting the Panther finally on the trail of Heavy Metal. The transition style was made with Power Metal (88), which was a bestseller. Abandoned once the look effeminate, and recorded in 1990 Cowboys from Hell, that even more weight, Phil Anselmo would design one of the most powerful vocalists of the decade.

In 1994, Far Beyond Driven compositions brought a little slower but no less heavy and debut in the first place in the USA. The special reference is provided by powerful riffs and solos of Darrel, who was already considered one of the best guitarists around the world in style.

Produced by Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul, was released in 2000 album Reinventing the Steel, even with heavy guitar lines and drums very well worked. The song "Goddamn Electric" including with regard to the participation of guitarist Kerry King of Slayer, another icon of heavy music. Many rumors, however, began to circulate about a possible end of the Pantera.In 2003, vocalist Phil Anselmo said the band is not over, but they will take a few years of holidays and perhaps re-recording together in the future.

Meanwhile, he focuses on the design Superjoint Ritual while the brothers Dimebag and Vinnie are working with Damageplan. Explanations somewhat offensive on both sides, however, made the fans lost once the hopes of seeing Pantera together again. Even so, the group remains one of the most important in the history of heavy metal.

MEGADETH

When i think of Megadeth... only one name comes to my head.
" DAVE MUSTAINE " - first place in the book The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists of Joel Mc Iver.

Megadeth is one of the 'Big 4' thrash metal bands and was formed by Dave Mustaine (primarily), after he was fired from Metallica for his extreme behaviour.
But then Mustaine formed 'Megadeth' and aimed for becoming a better band than Metallica.

Since then.. Megadeth has never had a stable line-up.. but the figure of Mustaine remained

Megadeth is known for its distinctive instrumental style, often featuring dense, intricate passages and trade off guitar solos. Mustaine is also known for his "snarling" vocal style, as well as his recurring lyrical themes including politics, war, addiction, personal relationships, and the occult.

Megadeth has sold close to 25 million albums worldwide,[1] with five consecutive albums being certified platinum in the USA. The band has also been nominated for seven consecutive nominations for Best Metal Performance.

Megadeth is second only to Metallica in sales and commercial success.

Some of my favourites are Symphony of Destruction (Countdown to extinction), Sweating bullets(Countdown to extinction), Hangar 18(Rust in peace), Holy wars.. (Rust in peace ).

METALLICA

Do i really need 2 say anything bout Metallica ?! No matter which part of world you're in.. People love Metallica! They are the most famous metal band in the world. And why not. Their one of the best metal bands ever! YEAH.. METALLICAAAAA ! :D

If you listen to their first 3-4 albums.. you cant help but headbang. They have given us epic songs like "Master of puppets", "Fade to Black", "Creeping Death", "Sanitarium", "Enter sandman", "Battery", "Fight fire with fire", and the list goes on!
well those were some of my favourites.

but.. after the release of their self-titled album, many including me feel that they distanced from metal and went mainstream.. which disappointed their huge fan base across the globe.. including me! I mean their last two albums "St. Anger" and "Death Magnetic" are just disc-shaped 'faeces' when you compare them with their early albums!


The Metallica's early releases included fast tempos, instrumentals and aggressive musicianship that placed them as one of the "Big Four" of thrash metal subgenre alongside Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax. The band earned a growing fan base in the underground music community, and some critics say the 1986 release Master of Puppets is one of the albums of thrash metal's most influential and "heavy."

The band became one of the most influential and commercially successful heavy metal. SLAYER

Slayer is one of my favourite metal bands. For me they are one of the heaviest and fastest metal bands.. still! They introduced a new level of Intensity and speed through their music which was basically the Genre of Thrash Metal. They are one of the big 4 of thrash metal and stand at 1st for me.

Slayer comprises of Tom Araya(Vocals, Bass) Kerry King (Guitar - rhythm/leads) Jeff Hanneman ( Lead guitar ) and my idol.. mr. Dave Lombardo ( Drums )- "Godfather of double bass" as said by drummerworld.com.

Some of my favourites are Angel of Death( Reign in blood ), Raining blood( Reign in blood), War Ensamble (Seasons in the Abyss), Black Magic (Show no Mercy), Disciple(God hates us all).

And on top of these.. Their live performances are absolutely amazing.. i cannot imagine how much effort and energy those guyz have in them. Their songs on record seem impossible.. And.. They play it twice as fast at Live shows ! WOW!
